Three months after the release of its initial artistic rendering, the picture of Sugar Land’s future performing arts center came into clearer focus during the Dec. 3 city council meeting, as Martinez + Johnson Architects presented a report on the progress being made on the center’s design, featuring site plans and preliminary computer models of the venue.

Five years after Sugar Land voters approved two bonds to fund the construction of a concert and theater venue, city leaders finally have a plan to build it.
The $84 million indoor venue, planned to open in late 2016 on a 21-acre lot off U.S. 59 between the University of Houston campus and Brazos River Park, will be a unique size for the metropolitan area.
