A number of Houston schools, businesses and roads remain closed after the deadly April 18 floods.
The intense 20 inches of rainfall resulted in at least five deaths and nearly 900 rescues in the Houston area, various news reports confirm. Harris County Judge Ed Emmett signed a declaration of disaster yesterday. However, reports say that Emmett said on April 19 that most people should be safe to make it into work today.
