City crafts Heights design guidelines (Houston Chronicle)

When it comes to historic preservation, few neighborhoods are more proactive than the Houston Heights, which is home to many structures built when the community was founded in the 1890s just northwest of downtown Houston.

The Houston Heights Historic District’s Design Guidelines Project has been put in place to provide design guidelines for The Heights and other historic Houston neighborhoods. The plan is especially needed, city officials say, in a period of rapid growth in the city.
