This year, Houston was home to one of the nation’s most talked-about political issues. The Houston Equal Rights Ordinance, dubbed HERO, was eventually rejected by voters in an overwhelming 62 percent to 38 percent majority. But its path to the polls kept readers on their toes for the better part of 2014 and 2015.
