The news that Houston plummeted in Urban Land Institute’s market rankings this year — from the top spot down to No. 30— reverberated around Houston’s real estate circles.

But some, like Robert Williamson, senior managing director at HFF, think the outside perception of Houston’s real estate market doesn’t line up with the reality.
