Houston housing market chugs along, but rental market lags amid oil slump (HBJ)

It’s been a year since oil prices started slipping to six-year lows.

Over the ensuing months, housing observers have watched the fluctuating oil prices with trepidation, wondering how the oil slump would affect the residential real estate market. Some housing experts predict home prices will fall along with oil prices. Others say Houston’s diverse economy will help the city weather the downturn.
