Candidates address housing at Houston mayoral forum (Houston Chronicle)

The luncheon hosted by the Houston Association of Realtors at the River Oaks Country Club drew a crowd of about 200 and was a departure from previous forums. Rather than posing a series of questions to all of the candidates, the moderator asked only one or two of them to answer each question, meaning the mayoral contenders addressed a broader range of topics but attendees were not able to compare responses across the field.

In addition to touching on recurring topics in this mayoral campaign — ReBuild Houston, pensions, traffic — the candidates took positions on issues ranging from the city’s budget to its low rate of home ownership and a historic preservation ordinance.
