Hal Lambert, a top Texas fundraiser who raised cash for the state Republican Party, is signing on to Sen. Ted Cruz’s prospective presidential campaign as Cruz looks to make inroads with the state’s top donors.
Cruz has made a special effort over the past year to reach out to the Texas donor establishment that spurned him in his 2012 run for Senate against Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. The securing of Lambert, who runs an investment firm in Fort Worth and led the Republican Party of Texas’ finance shop for the last three years, is the latest sign that Cruz is achieving some success.
