The most expensive places to rent office space in the Houston area are downtown and parts west. But rents in The Woodlands, the master-planned community 27 miles north of the city center, are not far behind.

The map below from commercial real estate firm Avison Young shows where average rents are highest in Houston, with landlords in the dark blue areas asking more than $30 per square foot.
