Montgomery County commissioner approved the county’s preliminary fiscal year 2014-15 budget that included more revenue and a lower tax rate.
The proposed budget is $299.4 million – a 7.62 percent increase over last year’s budget of $278.2 million. The proposed tax rate will drop from 48.38 cents to 47.67 cents per $100 property valuation – a 1.47 percent decrease. The owner of a $200,000 home would pay $953.40 in taxes to the county, down from $967.60 a year ago.
