Houston’s housing demand pushes construction contracts upward (HBJ)

Contracts for future construction of residential projects in the Houston area continued to climb in July, whereas much like last month, nonresidential saw a decline from the same period last year.

In the Houston metropolitan statistical area, residential construction future contracts spiked 28 percent to $716.9 million in July, up from $562 million in the same month in 2012, according to McGraw Hill Construction’s latest report.
